Wisp and Twink are on the run in Rainbow Land, being chased by a very big angry dog. While trying to escape, Twink explains the situation in Rainbow Land and how the King of Shadows is using dark powers to steal the colors. He tells her that they need a hero, Rainbow Brite, to use the white light and return color to their world and others before all of the universe is left in a state of gray!
The first issue of Rainbow Brite was all about playtime, but in #2 things get more serious with real adventure and danger everywhere. So far Jeremy Whitley’s story has been good, providing a synopsis for the uninitiated while moving the story along. His dialogue contains some nice vocabulary words for younger readers.
The art by Brittney Williams is cute and fun, occasionally dipping into scary territory during the chase scene. Valentina Pinto didn’t get to provide a lot of color on this issue, given the nature of the story, but when the situation needs it, the colors pop very well.
