It’s been determined that the Tony Stark currently standing in front of Squirrel Girl is not actually Tony at all, but is instead a Skrull imposter. After forcing the Skrull to show her true form, she escapes, leading Squirrel Girl, Brain Drain, Koi Boi and their other allies on a wild goose chase around New York trying to find what happened to the real Tony. And while they do find him, they also find their Skull antagonist again – but she’s not a soldier, and she isn’t interested in taking over Earth. Instead, she comes bearing a warning for Doreen and her pals.
Squirrel Girl remains one of the funniest books that Marvel publishes, though it balances its keen sense of humor with great action and drama. Skrulls have long been a nemesis for many Marvel heroes, and given Doreen’s habit of finding the oddest way out of any given scenario with any other given antagonist, the likelihood of this story arc taking an odd route to the finish is pretty high. But I’m going to enjoy the ride, regardless of where it goes, and you should too.
