Archie Comics; $3.99

Reggie’s father, Rick, is missing – and Reggie thinks he may know why, especially after finding his dad’s hidden room full of conspiracy theories and instructions left for Reggie as to what to do with the info. But Rick’s disappearance is hardly the only mystery in Riverdale; Betty and Veronica are hot on the case of “what the heck is up with Archie Andrews?” The answer is more supernatural than they might believe. And while Jughead is trying to solve everyone else’s problems, he might be stumbling into a big one of his own.

Since the reboot a few years ago, Archie has felt significantly more contemporary than it used to, and this more recent run of issues is continuing those vibes. This story arc so far feels like it’s trying to appeal directly to the viewers of Riverdale, for better or worse. It feels a little too melodramatic in spots, but for the most part, it’s still a worthwhile pickup.
