Marvel; $3.99

Carol has been trapped behind a bizarre barrier, fighting against the forces of Nuclear Man (a “throwback villain with a throwback attitude,” as she would describe him). The one man in their midst turns out to be Nuclear Man’s son, and the enemy forces keep referring to Carol as a “bride.” So things aren’t going super smoothly. But despite that, Carol carries on, organizing the women stuck on an island brought to ruin by misogynists and hoping to get them in shape to take down Nuclear Man. But it turns out that he’s not the biggest challenge standing in her way.

This particular arc for Carol has been super entertaining so far, and the reveal of who she’s going to have to face off against digs up a key incident from her past that’s sure to shock longtime fans. This is a really great story for fans who have gained some interest in the character after seeing Captain Marvel in theaters to jump in on, and I seriously look forward to seeing what happens next.
