Kamala’s parents have melted into alien goo following an extraterrestrial attack – or so she thinks. With the help of Bruno to both assist in investigating and make sure that she keeps a level head about the whole situation, she heads across Jersey City in the hopes of figuring out what exactly happened. But when they uncover that the alien invasion is but a ruse, it turns out that Ms. Marvel is perhaps destined for something far greater than facing the troubles of her hometown.
Kamala’s turn as Ms. Marvel has been honestly delightful to read over the last few years, though it has often felt somewhat “small-time” when compared to the adventures of other, older superheroes. With how this issue ends up, it seems as though she’s finally getting the opportunity to star in a genuinely epic storyline. Aside from that, I love how this issue played on the teenaged awkwardness occurring between Kamala and Bruno. Ms. Marvel remains one of the best books in the Marvel lineup and this new run is a great place to start.
