Dynamite; $3.99

Some people experience bad days, while others live them. This past week has been the ultimate terrible, horrible, no good, very bad day for former astronaut turned bionic secret agent Steve Austin. The man previously known as the Six Million Dollar Man now carries a value of…maybe $6?

After outrunning combat samurais and KGB agents with Japanese secret agent Niko Abe, the pair successfully destroyed a missile that threatened to implode the entire United States. Unfortunately, this bomb threat was quickly followed by an assassination plot against Vice President Patterson. While Austin managed to singlehandedly elbow-drop a plane, he is now missing a single hand, and both legs, and a working fuel cell. Talk about a cruel irony. With the secret assassination plot still in full swing, can Niko and a jarringly-positive, broken-down-cyborg manage to save the day before time runs out?

Despite starting the issue looking like a CPR test dummy, Christopher Hastings’ enjoyable writing lifts the Six Million Dollar Man to new heights. Meanwhile the action and drama is captured in full color by David Hahn in the epic conclusion of this miniseries.
