Kamala returned home from a quick little jaunt to outer space to discover two troubling things – first, her parents had no recollection of having learned her identity as Ms. Marvel, and second, her father has a rare and incurable disease that will eventually take his life. And somehow, on top of all that, she still has to study for exams and take down a criminal lowlife who kidnapped a bus full of people.

This felt like a bit of an in-between issue – not necessarily resolving much of anything but not really giving the feeling of building up to anything huge, either. But there’s certainly a lot of emotion to deal with here, and it was nice to see Kamala’s new suit give her the edge in battle as well. Ms. Marvel continues to be one of the best books that Marvel’s got on shelves, and now feels like a good time to catch up before things really get going again.
