Mal and Boss Moon have made it to the Alliance Outpost and have been arrested. Zoë’s plan to gather a small crew of Browncoats has turned into a massive group with Boss Singh and the Unificators heading straight for them.

Mal and Boss Moon are able to evade capture and end up protecting each other in the process. The situation in the sky keeps getting worse as many of the Browncoats and Singh’s Unificators have decided to restart the war. And the place they’ve chosen as a battleground is one that’ll definitely be memorable.

This story by Greg Pak has escalated quite a bit. For a few issues we got a “putting aside our differences” scenario with Mal and Moon needing to trust each other, which softened their hatred. Now, two rescue missions have reignited years of anger at the catastrophic losses accrued during the war. Thankfully, Pak did this seamlessly and has maintained the emotional angle.

This is a larger scale story for Firefly but it works.
