On top of trying to keep the world safe as Ms. Marvel, Kamala’s had a lot to deal with at home recently, thanks to her father’s recent terminal diagnosis. As a high school student, she’s starting to slip – falling asleep in class, missing extracurriculars – and her friends are starting to notice as much as her teachers. So they take her on a road trip to a little diner known for their gyros, but as things tend to go for Kamala, business at the diner is hardly business as usual.
It’s nice when a comic can remember that its hero is a teenager, because this arc feels very “teen drama” in all of the right ways. Kamala’s just trying to do right by her friends and her family and keeps getting sucked into other people’s nonsense, so it’ll definitely be a fun ride as we get to see how this story shapes up.
