Now that key roles have been cast, it’s time to work on the costuming for the new Power Rangers movie. First up is the new, drastically different look of Rita Repulsa, as played by Elizabeth Banks.

The image of Rita, the evil humanoid alien bent on destroying the Power Rangers, was first revealed to People. “I’ve never played a villain before,” Banks told People. She’s looking forward to “world domination – and being unpredictable as a character.”

The new costume gives her a reptilian look, with shimmering emerald green coloring, scaly cuffs, pointed claws, sharp angles, and what appears to be protruding bone structure in her forehead. “It’s definitely a modern and edgy reimagining of the original Rita Repulsa,” Banks said about the costume.

It is definitely very different from the large, flowing gown and elaborately wonky headgear worn by the original series Rita, played by Machiko Soga in Japanese made footage, voiced by Barbara Goodson.

Banks also shared that she and filmmakers wanted to give Rita a backstory that connects her to the new Rangers. Based on the costume, it seems that Power Rangers will be more of a reimagining than a standard reboot, making fans wonder just what will the Power Rangers’ suits look like.

Power Rangers will be in theaters on March 24, 2017. It will be directed by Dean Israelite (Project Almanac), starring Naomi Scott (Kimberly/Pink Ranger), Becky G. (Trini/Yellow Ranger), R.J. Cyler (Billy/Blue Ranger), Dacre Montgomery (Jason/Red Ranger), and Ludi Lin (Zack/Black Ranger).
