Since Hake’s Auctions began selling the Star Wars Collection of Russell Branton, Star Wars toy collectors have been avidly following the auctions. The collection contains hundreds of action figures, playsets, vehicles, proof cards, and related memorabilia with several exceptional pieces. One such item that discerning collectors have been waiting for is Vlix.

After Kenner finished creating their initial line of Star Wars action figures, they began producing figures for the Star Wars: Droids and Star Wars: Ewoks animated series. Aimed at a younger audience, the packaging featured brightly colored images of characters that accompany the figures.

Both lines saw domestic and foreign releases. The Brazilian Glasslite company created Droids figures and vehicles, which were sold on different cards than in the U.S. They included characters from the U.S. line, as well as the henchman Vlix, who was not issued in other countries. Kenner made a prototype figure of Vlix for U.S. distribution, but it never went beyond a mock up, which makes the Brazilian toy one of the rarest Star Wars action figures.

Hake’s is selling a Star Wars: Droids – Vlix action figure AFA 60 EX from Branton’s collection in Auction #225. The 4-1/4” tall action figure from Glasslite’s 1988 toy line is on an unpunched blister card. Hake’s is offering a 3-month time payment plan for this collectible.

The current auction closes on Tuesday through Thursday, November 13-15. Star Wars collectors can view all items in the auction at hakes.com.
