Item Description
11x17" artboard has Al Milgrom's pen and ink original art for cover to "Captain America" Vol. 1 #242, published by Marvel Feb. 1980. Art was inked by Klaus Janson and features great battle scene, showing Captain America at center, throwing his shield, which connects w/Iron Man's head. Fellow Avengers Thor and The Vision also attack, w/Vision passing through wall behind Cap. The Falcon is chained to this wall. These characters were actually illusions in the story. Of note, Captain America's face was altered for publication, w/Milgrom covering original art w/white correctional fluid and drawing new expressive face overtop. "Captain America" title logo and Marvel publishing indicia at top are pasted stats. Marvel copyright stamp on back. Top margin has penciled title, issue/page number, publication month and artists names and inkstamp at upper right. Bottom margin has repeated inked information w/inkstamp labels (which has some minor moisture marks, not affecting art). Left margin has some ink marks but art remains clean and would display Exc. if matted and framed. Great action-packed cover art.
