According to Deadline, Maze Runner alum Will Poulter will reportedly star in Amazon Studios’ upcoming The Lord of the Rings TV series. This news comes after earlier reports by Deadline that Australian actress Markella Kavenagh had been cast for the series. 

So far, no details about the characters have been revealed. However, it is rumored that Poulter and Kavenagh will play the two leads, referred to as Beldor and Tyra, respectively.

Led by writers J.D. Payne and Patrick McKay and director Juan Antonio (J.A.) Bayona, The Lord of the Rings series will highlight new adventures preceding J.R.R. Tolkien’s The Fellowship of the Ring.

The Lord of the Rings series is produced by Amazon Studios in cooperation with the Tolkien Estate and Trust, HarperCollins and New Line Cinema – the division of Warner Bros. Entertainment that produced the Peter Jackson trilogy.

Along with the Maze Runner franchise, Poulter’s credits also include Netflix’s Black Mirror: Bandersnatch, the horror film Midsommar, Detroit and The Revenant.
