According to co-creator Alan Martin, Margot Robbie’s film production company is working on a Tank Girl film reboot with MGM.

“Just heard that Margot Robbie’s company have optioned rights from MGM to make a new Tank Girl movie – now several months into development,” Martin tweeted. “We haven’t been contacted by any of the parties involved with the project, so not sure if there will be any input from the original creators.”

Created by Martin and Jamie Hewlett, Tank Girl originally ran as a comic book series in the British comics magazine Deadline. The series followed the eponymous character as she became a violence-loving outlaw who lives in a tank, and enjoys the finer things in life, like hair dyeing, nose-picking, alcohol, and her kangaroo boyfriend. Tank Girl is currently published by Titan Comics.

MGM previously released a Tank Girl film in 1995 starring Lori Petty. Robbie’s film studio, LuckyChap Entertainment, is producing the upcoming Birds of Prey (And the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn).
