The first Wonder Woman 1984 trailer has arrived and if the title wasn’t clear enough, the trailer shows that it’s all about the ’80s. The music, the clothes, and the excess play a role in the trailer, setting the scene for Wonder Woman’s follow-up to her extremely successful debut movie from 2017.

Plot details are still tightly held, so the trailer focuses on introductions, reunions, and some exciting lasso work. Diana Prince has maintained a presence as a heroine and made a friend in Barbara Minerva. Steve Trevor, Diana’s love who sacrificed himself in the first movie, is back and fighting by her side. Max Lord is a captain of industry promising that people can have whatever they want – obviously he wants something he shouldn’t have.

The directing/starring team of Patty Jenkins, Gal Gadot, and Chris Pine return for the sequel. It was written by Jenkins, comic scribe Geoff Johns, and Dave Callaham (The Expendables). Pedro Pascal joins the cast as Max Lord and Kristen Wiig will play Barbara/Cheetah. Wonder Woman 1984 will debut in theaters on June 5, 2020.
