Free Comic Book Day (FCBD), the annual comic industry holiday that celebrates all things comics, is scheduled for Saturday, May 2, 2020. Thousands of comic book stores around the world will give away free comic books to regular customers and new readers, as well as host special sales on their inventory.

Gemstone Publishing will participate in the event by offering the 2020 edition of The Overstreet Guide to Collecting. Continuing the theme of “crossovers you’ll never see,” it depicts a Painkiller Jane and Usagi Yojimbo team-up cover done by Billy Tucci.

The issue contains three stories that look at different aspects of the comic book market. The stories by Gemstone Vice-President of Publishing J.C. Vaughn explore caring for your comics and the importance of finding reputable dealers, and Michael Avon Oeming provides a Hero Initiative-themed story. Two stories were illustrated by Brendon and Brian Fraim with colorists Brian Miller and Chris Summers.

In addition to these stories, the issue also features “how to” information on a variety of collectibles.

The Overstreet Guide to Collecting will be available on FCBD in better comic book stores.
