In 2019, Universal Studios announced that they would be adding a third theme park to their Orlando, Florida resort, to be called Epic Universe. This new park will include areas based on Nintendo, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, How to Train Your Dragon and more. One other such area will be based on classic Universal Monsters, and a new report by ParkStop has revealed new details about it.
The Universal Classic Monsters land at Epic Universe will include such iconic characters as Dracula, Wolfman, Frankenstein, the Mummy, and The Creature from the Black Lagoon. Newly filed permits and plans have included the layout for the area, which will be near a planned hotel for the resort as well. There will be two main attractions as well as dining, shopping, and other entertainment options.
Current rumors about the area include how it will be themed as a small European village, similar to settings from Dracula and Frankenstein, with Frankenstein’s castle looming in the background as a focal point. The castle will also reportedly house an attraction itself, currently rumored to be a high-tech dark ride that would include all of the Universal Monsters in some capacity.
Universal’s Epic Universe is expected to open sometime in 2023.
