Dragon Con has cancelled the live con that was scheduled for September 3-7, 2020 in Atlanta, GA. This follows months of attempts to keep things moving forward as a live experience. In the live show’s place, Dragon Con will hold a virtual event on Labor Day weekend.

“After an exhaustive attempt to consider and uncover every possible option to hosting a safe and much-needed Dragon Con this year, it has become apparent that we cannot, in good faith, move forward with our 2020 event,” reads a statement on Dragon Con’s Twitter account. “We are heartbroken to make this announcement, but do so with the support of you, our fans, our partners, the Atlanta Convention and Visitors Bureau Main Office, and City of Atlanta Government. For that, we thank you.”

More details on the virtual event will be revealed in the near future.

Tickets that were purchased for the 2020 show will be automatically rolled over to the 2021 dates. Those who keep their passes will get their 2020 badge as a memento and an exclusive Dragon Con item that won’t be released in any other form. They are also offering refunds, which must be requested before August 1. All the details on ticket transfers, refunds, and more are available on Dragon Con’s website.
