Actor Michael Hogan, known for his role as Colonel Tigh in Battlestar Galactica, as well as roles in many other films and TV shows, is in dire need of donations for medical care.
In February 2020 he was attending a Battlestar Galactica convention in Vancouver when he fell and hit his head, which caused a massive brain bleed. He was taken to the hospital the next day for emergency surgery and it took 57 staples to close the part of his skull they removed to repair the damage.
Hogan was left with complete paralysis on his left side, memory loss, cognitive impairment, and an inability to swallow. The global pandemic made things even harder as restrictions were put on family visits and no care team was allowed in.
On June 18, he was moved to The Berkley Care Centre in North Vancouver where he is now seeing a physiotherapist but still cannot stand and requires a feeding tube. Hogan has regained his speech and is mostly coherent, though he still has a long road ahead.
It is likely that he won’t work again, and since the accident, his wife Susan has not worked either. The fundraiser was developed to help with the mounting costs for the care he has received, as well as future costs, in addition to other bills. Donations can be made at GoFundMe.com.
