David Ramsey, who played John Diggle throughout the entire run of Arrow is heading back to The CW’s Arrowverse. In 2021, Ramsey will return to his role as Diggle for guest spots on a few of the shows and he’s signed on to direct.

In the Arrow series finale, Diggle was seen getting ready to move to Metropolis when he found a bright green object at a meteor crash, which seems to confirm the longstanding theory that Diggle would become a Green Lantern. After that, he appeared on Flash in the episode “Marathon.”

Ramsey will guest star in five episodes in the Arrowverse, playing Diggle on The Flash, Supergirl, Batwoman, and the new show, Superman & Lois. He’s also set to guest star on Legends of Tomorrow, however the specific role is currently being kept under wraps.

Stepping behind the camera, Ramsey will direct five episodes in the Arrowverse on Supergirl and Superman & Lois. He made his directorial debut on Arrow for the season seven episode “Past Sins” and then season eight’s time-loop episode “Reset.” This will be the first time he’s directed since Arrow’s final season.

“I remain in awe of the imprint these shows have had on television and I’ve been blessed for the better part of a decade to be a part of them both in front of and behind the camera,” Ramsey said. “To say I’m excited beyond belief to return to the Berlantiverse would be an understatement. I can’t wait to continue telling these stories.”

The Arrowverse begins its return on January 17 with Batwoman, followed by Black Lightning on February 8, and The Flash and Superman & Lois on February 23. Supergirl and Legends of Tomorrow will come back midseason, though exact dates have not been announced.
