A new comic art exhibit is set to open soon at The Bernard Z. Zuckerman Museum of Art at Kennesaw State University’s School of Art and Design. The 9th Art: Frames and Thought Bubbles featuring vintage and modern comic art opens January 23, 2021 and runs through May 9. The museum is located at 492 Prillaman Way in Kennesaw, GA.

The exhibit includes an overview of comic art with examples of early newspapers to modern comic pages that shows off a wide variety of artistic and narrative styles. The work of artists who established comics to that of contemporary creators are featured in the original drawings and prints that will be presented.

Highlights include art from Winsor McCay’s Little Nemo in Slumberland, Will Eisner’s The Spirit, and Louise Simonson and June Brigman’s Power Pack.

The exhibit is curated by Geo Sipp, director of the School of Art and Design. “I am pleased to present this prominent and extensive selection of works at the Zuckerman Museum of Art that challenges the construct of traditional narrative storytelling,” Sipp said.

Programming and workshops are also planned to run alongside the exhibition, which will be free to the public. More details can be found on the Zuckerman Museum of Art website.
