Savannah Welch has been cast as Barbara Gordon for the third season of Titans. The show will air on HBO Max, having moved from its home at DC Universe.

Barbara will be introduced as the Gotham City police commissioner who uses a wheelchair after she was shot and paralyzed by the Joker. Her life becomes more complicated when Dick Grayson returns to Gotham and the pair restart their romance and begin a new crimefighting union.

Welch has starred in the History Channel drama Six as a Marine who had suffered an amputation during combat. She is an amputee herself, having lost a leg in an accident and since has become a spokesperson for people with disabilities. Welch was also in the critically lauded films Boyhood and Tree of Life.

Titans was developed by Akiva Goldsman, Geoff Johns, and Greg Berlanti, as the first scripted show on DC Universe. The series stars Brenton Thwaites, Teagan Croft, Anna Diop, Ryan Potter, Minka Kelly, Alan Ritchson, Conor Leslie, and Curran Walters. Season three will air in 2021, though specific date has not been announced yet.
