Amazon Studios has dropped the first full trailer for Cinderella, which is an updated version of the fairy tale, accompanied by a pop music soundtrack.

In this version, Cinderella (who goes by Ella), wants to be a dressmaker, but is forced to work for her evil stepmother. Meanwhile, the kingdom’s prince is told that he must find a wife at the upcoming ball. When Ella’s stepmother ruins her dress, she is surprised by a fairy Godmother who gives her an amazing dress to wear to the ball. Ella and the prince meet and are immediately smitten – except for the fact that she still wants to be a dressmaker rather than have the life of a queen.

Pitch Perfect writer Kay Cannon is pulling double duty as writer and director of Cinderella. The movie stars Camila Cabello as Ella, Billy Porter as Fairy Godmother, Idina Menzel as Stepmother, Nicholas Galitzine as Prince Robert, Pierce Brosnan as King Rowan, Minnie Driver as Queen Beatrice, Maddie Baillio as Anastasia, Charlotte Spencer as Drizella, and James Acasteer, James Corden, and Romesh Ranganathan as the Footmen/Mice.

Cinderella will premiere on Prime Video on September 3, 2021.
