Barbara Gordon is on the case! Warner Bros. and DC Films announced that the Batgirl movie is now filming with a new image and social media post.

“Day One of #Batgirl,” co-director Adil El Arbi wrote on Instagram. The post was accompanied by a photo of the clapper board with the movie’s logo and some details for the show. The photo includes an “Officer Barbara Gordon” nameplate suggesting that she is a cop, and what appears to be a copy of Simon Singh’s The Code Book: The Science of Secrecy from Ancient Egypt to Quantum Cryptography. The typical office files are stacked on nearby tables and a garland appears in the photo suggesting that the show may take place during the holidays.

The movie will star Leslie Grace as Barbara/Batgirl with J.K. Simmons returning to his DCEU role as Commissioner Gordon, Brendan Fraser as Garfield Lynns/Firefly, and Jacob Scipio in an undisclosed role. It was written by Birds of Prey and The Flash writer Christina Hodson, and Bad Boys for Life co-directors El Arbi and Bilall Fallah are helming the project.

Batgirl will stream exclusively on HBO Max.
