Dark Horse Comics has promoted Cara O’Neil to Director of Marketing Communications. In her new role, O’Neil will supervise Dark Horse’s social media and public relations teams as well as maintaining regular communications between staff, creative teams, and licensing partners. 

O’Neil joined Dark Horse in 2017 with a focus on social media management, where she grew their social media presence by developing strategies and campaigns, and expanded their live-stream channels and programming. She also managed digital advertising and promotional efforts for titles like The Witcher, Avatar: The Last Airbender, HellboyThe Umbrella Academy, and Stranger Things.

“Cara has truly elevated the marketing department due to her deep skillset and strong understanding of the industry,” VP of Marketing Matt Parkinson said. “Her creative approach, critical thinking, and continual drive for excellence positions us for even greater success in the years ahead!”

O’Neil graduated from Portland State University’s Masters in Publishing program. She has years of book retail and library experience with management of marketing, publicity, and communications in publishing, non-profits, creative agencies, and higher education.
