Following much speculation, rumors, and petition by fans, it seems that Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige confirmed that Charlie Cox will return as Daredevil for future Marvel projects.

Feige made the announcement during an interview with CinemaBlend. “If you were to see Daredevil in upcoming things, Charlie Cox, yes, would be the actor playing Daredevil. Where we see that, how we see that, when we see that, remains to be seen,” Feige said.

While Feige’s quote starts with “If you were to see Daredevil…” it appears to be a confirmation. Feige is usually careful when it comes to major announcements, so it’s unlikely that he’d make a flippant comment about Cox’s returning as Daredevil if it wasn’t already definitely happening.

Cox played Matt Murdock/Daredevil in the Netflix Daredevil series from 2015 to 2018. Fans have wondered if Cox’s Daredevil and the other street level Defenders heroes would join the MCU’s slate of films and TV series. Bringing in Cox could open the door for Jessica Jones (Krysten Ritter), Luke Cage (Mike Colter), Iron Fist (Finn Jones), and Punisher (Jon Bernthal).

Two current prospects for Cox’s MCU introduction could be in the Disney+ series Hawkeye or the upcoming movie Spider-Man: No Way Home.

Maya Lopez/Echo, who is featured in Hawkeye, has a comic backstory that involves a close relationship with Kingpin, Daredevil’s main antagonist. In the comics, Kingpin raised Maya and tasked her with killing Daredevil. The December 1, 2021, episode of Hawkeye showed some of Echo’s history, including referencing “Uncle,” who fans speculate is Kingpin. This could open the door to seeing Daredevil show up to stop Kingpin or his protégé.

There’s speculation that Cox could be introduced to the MCU in No Way Home based on the first trailer. After Peter Parker was outed as Spider-Man, it seems that the young man could be in legal trouble. The first trailer shows Peter sitting in an interrogation room with a suited man whose face isn’t shown. Further, his hands appear to be flat on a file as though he’s reading Braille. Cox has denied that he’s the unidentified man in the trailer, but this could be a maneuver to keep the role a surprise.

Both options are just conjecture at this point, and considering how far ahead the MCU is planned out, we may not see Daredevil for a few projects/years.
