Peter Robbins, the original Charlie Brown voice actor in the Peanuts specials, has died. According to his family, he died last week by suicide. Robbins was 65 years old.

Born Louis G. Nanasi on August 10, 1956, in Los Angeles, he began acting when he was just seven years old in A Ticklish Affair. He started voicing Charlie Brown in 1963 in the classic specials A Charlie Brown Christmas, A Boy Named Charlie Brown, and It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown.

Outside of voicing Charlie Brown, Robbins was in The Munsters, Moment to Moment, F Troop, he starred in the series Blondie, and his last role was in My Three Sons in ’72.

After he was arrested for criminal threats and spent a few years in jail, starting in 2015, Robbins publicly spoke about struggling with bipolar disorder and paranoid schizophrenia. Robbins remained attached to Charlie Brown and appeared at comic and pop culture conventions to meet fans.
