On July 21-24, 2022, San Diego Comic-Con is returning for their first major live show since 2019. In preparation for the event at the San Diego Convention Center, Comic-Con has announced their COVID-19 health and safety protocols.
They will require proof of vaccination or a negative Covid test within 72 hours. Proof of vaccination can be shown via a CDC or WHO vaccination record card, a photocopy or photo of the vaccine card (front and back), or digital record from the Department of Public Health with a QR code. The negative test results must include type of test (nucleic acid amplification tests or antigen tests), entity that issued the results, specimen collection date, the person’s name, and that it was a negative result.
All attendees ages 5 and older must wear face coverings that fit over the nose and mouth, regardless of vaccination status. This applies to exhibitors, guests, staff, press, professionals, volunteers, and cosplayers.
The coverings exclude ones that do not secure under the chin, such as bandanas or scarves, neck gaitors, mesh face coverings, ones with exhalation valves, or those that are visibly damaged or torn. Coverings must be visible at all times, meaning that they cannot be concealed under costumes. Additionally, Comic-Con recommends that those “unable to wear a mask due to a medical concern” not attend the show.
All of the Covid protocols and specific details are available on the Comic-Con website.
