The CW is continuing it’s string of cancellations with Riverdale. The comic-based TV series about Archie and his pals will end with its seventh season in 2023.

Riverdale was among The CW series given early renewal back in March 2022, alongside The Flash, Nancy Drew, Kung Fu, All American, and Walker.

Now, the long-running show will join recent cancellations that have included Legends of Tomorrow, Batwoman, Dynasty, and Legacies. But unlike those shows, Riverdale can plan its send off with a final season.

Developed by Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa, Riverdale follows the comic cast of Archie, Betty, Veronica, Jughead, and the rest of the gang as they navigate high school. The difference lies in the more serious, and scandalous storytelling with sex, drugs, and murder replacing the G-rated themes of the comic. More recently, the series jumped ahead several years and added supernatural elements.

Riverdale stars K.J. Apa as Archie, Lili Reinhart as Betty, Camila Mendes as Veronica, Cole Sprouse as Jughead, Madelaine Petsch as Cheryl, Mädchen Amick as Alice, Vanessa Morgan as Toni, and Charles Melton as Reggie.
