Hake’s Auctions, the pop culture and Americana auction house behind such world records as the Boba Fett rocket-firing prototype and Babe Ruth 1915 American League Champions Boston Red Sox button, are looking to fill three positions in the York, PA office. They are seeking to hire an Administrative Assistant/Social Media Manager, Shipping Assistant, and Cataloger.

The principal duties for the Administrative Assistant/Social Media Manager include assisting the Operations Manager in communications, clerical duties, coordinating communication with Hake’s parent company, assisting in catalog layout and proofreading, and customer relations.

The Shipping Assistant will coordinate shipping and receiving operations, inventory shipping materials, and assist in pulling auction items for shipment with special attention paid to the value and delicacy of all collectibles. This position entails comparing contents with billing/packing documents, following up on consignor’s unsold items after auctions, and assisting in various areas of production for auction catalogs.

The Cataloger will be responsible for researching, cataloging, and describing items for auction catalogs and online auctions. The duties including detailing the grade, value, context, rarity, and other factors for collectibles, submission to third party grading/authentication, and assembling auction lot order.

All three positions include customer relations, such as handling phone-in bids and questions about the auctions. Applicants for each position should also have a working knowledge of pop culture collectibles and memorabilia within comics, toys, action figures, sports cards, and historical items.
