The Sanderson sisters are back and ready to put a new spell on the town of Salem! Walt Disney Studios released the first teaser trailer for the long-awaited sequel that sees the returns of Bette Midler, Kathy Najimy, and Sarah Jessica Parker as Winifred, Mary, and Sarah Sanderson.

The trailer introduces a new group of teenagers messing with magic and lighting the infamous black flame candle. After the earth crackles and splits, Winifred warns, “Lock up your children! Yes, Salem, we’re back!” Instead of sticking to shadows and silhouettes for the teaser, viewers are treated to a full look at the Sanderson Sisters as the trailer closes.

Directed by Anne Fletcher (The Proposal), Hocus Pocus 2 will follow a similar premise to the original as three teen girls (Whitney Peak, Belissa Escobedo, and Lilia Buckingham) must do what they can to stop the child-essence-eating witches from wreaking havoc on their town.

Doug Jones, who played the zombie Billy Butcherson is also back for the sequel and the trailer shows shots of a black cat that could be the resurrected Thackery Binx. Thora Birch has confirmed that she isn’t returning to play Dani, however there’s no word yet if Omri Katz and Vinessa Shaw will reprise Max and Allison.

Hocus Pocus 2 is heading straight to streaming on Disney+ on September 30, 2022.
