The story of Alfred Pennyworth before he became Batman’s loyal butler and confidant is continuing soon. Warner Bros. Television has released the first teaser trailer for Pennyworth season three and announced its expanded title: Pennyworth: The Origin of Batman’s Butler.

Pennyworth follows Alfred (Jack Bannon) on his exploits once he started working for Thomas (Ben Aldridge) and Martha Wayne (Emma Paetz). The new season will begin with a five-year time jump after the civil war and the cultural revolution that starts a new age of superheroes and villains.

The short trailer features the tagline “Before the Batman, before Gotham, before the Butler, there was Alfred” then moves into brief action scenes and the announcement that season three begins in October.

Pennyworth: The Origin of Batman’s Butler, which originally ran on EPIX, is moving to HBO Max. The ten-episode third season starts streaming in October 2022.
