Quantcast

ColecoVision was the first video game platform to combine a game console with a home computer, and the system included games such as CentipedeDonkey Kong and Galaxian. The pioneering system also featured Cosmic Avenger, which our friend Mariano Nicieza and his team at Apex Comics Group are now giving new 21st century life in comic book form.

Jordan Armstrong, a human raised in an alien civilization, has becomes that planet’s premiere military pilot in a shooting war against a race of insectoid enemies. Complicating matters is his romance with chief weapons officer Lain, a beautiful alien woman determined to stop the insectoid invasion at any cost.

Offered on Kickstarter, the campaign is already off to a promising start. Depending on the success of the crowdfunding effort, the 32-page comic book could expand to 40 or even 48 pages, or more.

In addition to writer Nicieza (William Shatner’s War Chronicles), it features the work of penciler Walter Figueroa (Kolchak: The Night Stalker: Eve of Terror), and inker Pete Botsis (Roger Zelazny’s The Game of Blood and Dust). Scott Hana supplies one of the covers, and there’s a cosplay cover featuring Ireland Reid.
