Star Wars is continuing to expand the galaxy with new adventures on Disney+, including Star Wars: Skeleton Crew. The streamer has announced that the first season of the new series will consist of an eight-episode run, following suit with other Star Wars shows like The Mandalorian and the upcoming series Ahsoka.
Skeleton Crew, starring Jude Law, it is set during the same timeframe as The Mandalorian and Ahsoka with a group of young adventurers getting lost and trying to find their way home. The series was developed by Chris Ford and Jon Watts (the director of Spider-Man: No Way Home). Law is joined by child costars Ravi Cabot-Conyers, Kyriana Kratter, Robert Timothy Smith, and Ryan Kiera Armstrong.
Since Skeleton Crew takes place at the same time as The Mandalorian and Ahsoka, there is a chance for a crossover with characters from those series. It could also be setting up a larger crossover story for future Disney+ series or films.
Along with Skeleton Crew and Ahsoka, Star Wars has a few other TV shows in the pipeline. The Acolyte, described by showrunner Leslye Headland as “Frozen meets Kill Bill,” is set in the High Republic era, and will focus on the dark side of the Force when it was at its weakest point and they were outnumbered. Andor is getting a second season, which will consist of 12 episodes structured in three-episode arcs that take place during each of the four years that lead up to Rogue One. The animated Tales of the Jedi is returning four a second season that will split between Ahsoka Tano and Count Dooku.
There are also three movies in the works, including one that will see Daisy Ridley reprising the role of Rey as the young Jedi tries to revive the Jedi Order. There will be a film about the first Jedi to wield the Force and the third movie is set in the New Republic era.
