Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse pulled viewers into its web with a $120.5 million opening weekend at the domestic box office.

The animated sequel to 2018’s Into the Spider-Verse had the second biggest opening weekend of 2023, falling only behind The Super Mario Bros. Movie. It is also the third biggest opening weekend for a Spider-Man movie, following Spider-Man: No Way Home and Spider-Man 3.

It added $88.1 million internationally, giving it a $208.5 million worldwide weekend and Sony Pictures’ biggest animated opening ever.

The movie finds Miles Morales (Shameik Moore) trying to balance his life as a teenager with his life as a superhero. That’s when Gwen Stacy (Hailee Steinfeld) shows up to invite him on a journey into the multiverse where they meet many other Spider-Heroes like Spider-Man 2099 (Oscar Isaac) and are faced with new threats.

The voice cast also includes Brian Tyree Henry, Luna Lauren Velez, Jake Johnson, Jason Schwartzman, Issa Rae, Daniel Kaluuya, Karan Soni, Mahershala Ali, Amandla Stenberg, Andy Samberg, Jack Quaid, and Rachel Dratch.
