Steve Geppi, the Chairman and CEO of Geppi Family Enterprises, was recently interviewed by historian Dan Gearino as a part of ICv2’s Comics Direct Market 50th anniversary celebration.

In the interview, Geppi recounts his roots in Baltimore and his love of comics. He talks about his career change from mail carrier to comic book store owner and the transition into distributing comics. The interview details the creation and growth of Diamond Comic Distributors and some of the early obstacles it faced.

Geppi discusses how the comics industry evolved in the past 25 years and Diamond’s distribution of the bulk of comics. He candidly speaks about the COVID-19 pandemic, the changing landscape of Diamond’s distribution portfolio, and his expectations for the future.
