In 1975, the hero of Themyscira transitioned from comics to television for the Wonder Woman TV show starring Lynda Carter. In honor of the beloved superhero show’s anniversary, The Paley Museum is hosting A Superheroine Like No Other: Paley Celebrates 50 Years of Wonder Woman on Television.
Paley curator Allison Kraft will host a discussion about the show’s history and its impact on TV heroines who would come after her. The conversation will include clips from the Paley Archive.
“A founding member of the Justice League, Wonder Woman, played by Lynda Carter in the original television series, has become a symbol of strength, courage, and feminism, rejecting the formerly traditional ‘damsel in distress’ trope,” the event page states.
The Women’s History Month event will be held this Friday, March 14, 2025, at 4 PM; tickets are available online. The Paley Museum is located at 25 West 52nd Street in New York City.
