The Force continues to be strong at Hake’s Auctions as they have opened their first premier auction of 2020 with some extremely rare Star Wars figures. Poised once again to inspire bidding wars, this auction contains a trio of rare early production items that were recently found in Minnesota and are fresh to the market.

The Darth Vader double-telescoping 12-back-A figure AFA 75 on white stand is one that’s sure to grab attention. This 4-1/4” tall figure was introduced in Kenner’s 1978 toy line and is the rare double-telescoping example that has a lightsaber with a second extendable piece. This example comes with a white stand, denoting that it hails from early in the production process, and is one of the very few known carded examples with the white stand. The unpunched card has a square cut blister with slightly lighter card back.

The 2-1/4” tall Jawa (vinyl cape) 12-back-A AFA 60 from the ’78 line is the rare vinyl cape variety that was made before the cape was switched to cloth. It has no punch in the card, meaning that it never made it to the final stage of production where the hang tab would have been perforated for store displays. This is the only known no punch vinyl cape Jawa figure.

The ’78 Death Squad Commander 12-back-A AFA 60, that stands 3-3/4” tall, is packaged with a dark blue stand. This example has no punch in the card and is the only known no punch Death Squad Commander.

These figures are joined by many other Star Wars lots, including comics, original art, vehicles, playsets, figures, and more. Auction #229 closes on March 11-12, 2020 is open for bids at hakes.com.
