Comic book lots in the latest ComicLink Focused Auction began closing earlier this week but there are still over 5,100 comic books still to go along with over 500 examples of original art by hundreds of artists from the Golden Age through the present, including some of the biggest names in the hobby.
Comic books in this auction all started at $1 and all but a few with no seller reserve price. There is a large and diverse selection of scarce Golden Age comic books, an extensive selection of post-1975 comic books mostly in great shape with almost all of the keys from the past 45 years represented and an assorted selection of relatively affordable mostly mid-grade comic books from the Silver to Modern Ages.
Lots will continue closing Friday, September 25, 2020, and continue closing each weekday until the art session ends on Tuesday, October 6. Each evening’s lots start closing at 8 PM ET/5 PM PT.
Among the many comic highlights from the Golden Age include classic covers such as Mask Comics #2 and Captain America #46 to high grade examples like Captain America Comics #51 CGC 9.2 and Batman #43 CGC 9.0. The best of the Modern era is represented with Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles #1 CGC 8.0 and Albedo #2 CGC 9.2. Original are includes hundreds of examples by some of the biggest names in the hobby. There are multiple pages from the epic Infinity Gauntlet series by George Pérez and Ron Lim including a key Lim page from #6, the epic conclusion with Thanos, Warlock, and Doctor Strange witnessing Nebula using the power of the Infinity Gauntlet’s gems to undo the infamous Thanos snap. Another highlight is the 1973 Dick Giordano cover to Detective Comics #434 with Batman battling the Spook.
Golden Age comic books come from every genre, including many keys, classic covers, and high grades, and even some pedigree collection examples. There’s a very large selection of Batman-related books with key Penguin appearances such as Detective Comics #58 (first Penguin), Batman #14 (second Penguin cover) CGC 6.5, and #43 (Penguin cover) CGC 9.0. Other Batman-centric offerings include Batman #56 CGC 9.0, Detective Comics #68 (first Two-Face cover), #140 (first Riddler), and #169 CGC 8.5 (top four). There’s relatively affordable examples of two of the most significant Golden Age Superman books: Superman #1 (coverless and incomplete) and a restored #14.
Some popular non-superhero covers from the Golden Age include Beware #10 (Frazetta zombie cover) CGC 4.0, Blue Bolt #111 (L.B. Cole horror cover) CGC 5.0 and #113 (L.B. Cole horror cover) CGC 7.0, Weird Tales of the Future #5 CGC 3.5, and Mister Mystery #6 (horror cover).
The auction features thousands of mainly high grade comic books from the late Bronze and Modern Age. Examples include X-Men #101 CGC 9.8, Walking Dead #1 CGC 9.8, New Mutants #98 CGC 9.8 newsstand edition, Amazing Spider-Man #194 CGC 9.6, #252 CGC 9.8 newsstand edition, #300 (first full Venom) CGC 9.8 and CGC 9.6, and Vol. 2014 #4 (first Silk) CGC 9.8 retailer incentive edition, Avengers #196 CGC 9.8 Signature Series Pérez, Michelinie, and Rubinstein, Ultimate Fallout #4 CGC 9.8, Batman Adventures #12 CGC 9.8, Captain Britain #1 CGC 9.8, Daredevil #168 CGC 9.8, DC Comics Presents #26 CGC 9.8, Edge of Spider-Verse #2 CGC 9.8, and Eternals #1 CGC 9.8.
Still coming up in the auction is a session featuring an assortment of comic books from high grade Bronze Age keys like Amazing Spider-Man #129 CGC 9.4 to more affordable Silver and Bronze Age keys like X-Men #1 CGC 1.0 Signature Series Stan Lee and Incredible #181 CGC 3.5, as well as high grade Modern comics like Edge of Spider-Verse #2 (first Spider-Gwen) CGC 9.8 and group lots.
Original art fills over 500 lots by hundreds of different artists and the session is broken up into Part I and Part II.
