An early issue of Fantastic Four and a rare Captain America Comics key are presented in Heritage’s Sunday & Monday Comic Books Select Auction. Comics in the auction close on December 5, 2021, followed by everything else on December 6.
Fantastic Four #3 VG has many key elements, including the heroic quartet donning their costumes and establishing headquarters. It introduces the Fantasti-Car and contains the first appearance of Miracle Man. Jack Kirby created the art and cover for the issue, which is famous because Human Torch is drawn with two left hands. The issue currently is No. 25 on Overstreet’s list of Top 50 Silver Age Comics.
In the rare Captain America Comics #21 CGC 6.0 Cap is pitted against Satan. The Human Torch and Dippy Diplomat also star in a story, and there are appearances by Creeper and President Franklin Roosevelt. Syd Shores provided the cover for the issue, and teamed with Vince Alascia and Don Rico on the art. The CGC notes state, “Minor amount of dried glue on 2 center wraps. 2 center wraps detached.”
There are 1,082 lots of comics, original art, and memorabilia in this auction. Bidding opens at 6 PM CT on ha.com.
