Heritage has set a new house record. Their Sunday & Monday Comic Books Select Auction that closed on January 9-10, 2022, ended with $1 million in sales. The 1,131-lot event brought $1,011,283 in total sales, marking the first time one of their weekly auctions reached the $1 million mark.
“Heritage has been the world’s top comics auctioneer for years, and this new benchmark only underscores that status,” Heritage Co-Chairman Jim Halperin said. “It was only June when we became the first auction house to top $900,000 in a weekly sale, and the rapid growth has continued.”
The auction was headlined by Amazing Fantasy #15, featuring Spider-Man’s debut, which saw a CGC 3.0 Signature Series Stan Lee sell for $42,000 and a CGC 2.0 brought $38,400. These were two of 11 lots that sold in the five-figure range.
A copy of The Incredible Hulk #1 CGC 4.5 with the origin and first appearance of the Hulk also smashed his way to $38,400. Amazing Spider-Man #1 CGC 5.5, noted for being Spidey’s first self-titled book and the introductions of J. Jonah Jameson and the Chameleon, grabbed $28,800. A Fantastic Four #1 CGC Apparent 5.5 Slight (C-1) with the origin and first appearance of the Fantastic Four reached $24,000.
