Hake’s Auctions is currently hosting their Star Wars Special Event Auction featuring 201 premier-level lots of memorabilia from the game-changing sci-fi franchise. Loaded with action figures and related toys, the auction offers some of the rarest and high grade pieces from the original toy releases.

The Jawa (vinyl cape) 12-back-A AFA 80 NM is one of the smallest figures that is making the biggest noise. The 2-1/4” tall figure comes with the initial vinyl cape before it was repackaged with a cloth one. The card is unpunched.

Bidders are also heading to the Dark Side for the loose Darth Vader double-telescoping figure AFA 90 NM+/Mint. This 4-1/4” tall figure comes from Kenner’s 1977 Hong Kong line.

The galaxy’s enigmatic bounty hunter is featured in three top lots, starting with the Boba Fett 21-back-B AFA 85+ NM+. The 3-3/4” figure from the 1979 toy line comes from the collection of Doug McKibbon.

The Lily Ledy La Guerrade Las Galaxias loose Boba Fett (removable rocket) figure AFA 80+ NM comes from the ’79 toy line. The Mexican variety features a removable rocket with a small fin that locked it into the backpack. It was quickly revised, resulting in a much scarcer sampling of this coveted figure.

The third is the Meccano Empire Strikes Back Boba Fett 18-back AFA 40. The figure comes on the 6-1/4” x 7” square blister card from Meccano’s French release of Kenner’s 1981 toy line. The card has been punched.

The Power of the Force Yak Face 92-back AFA 80 Y-NM showcases a character who had very limited screentime, but has become a favorite with collectors. This Kenner Canada 4” tall figure with matching aluminum collector’s coin is from the 1985 line, which is the most desirable of the last 17 vintage figures and only released in foreign outlets. The card is partially punched, but the hang tab remains in place. It hails from the collection of Doug McKibbon.

Hake’s is selling multiple figures from Kenner’s first line, including Luke Skywalker 12-back-B CAS 85, Artoo-Detoo (R2-D2) 12-back-A CAS 85 (dark blue dome), Han Solo 12-back-A AFA 60 EX (white footer), Darth Vader 12-back-A AFA 80 NM (sku on footer), Ben (Obi-Wan) Kenobi 12-back-A AFA 75 EX+/NM (sku on footer), See-Threepio (C-3PO) 12-back-A AFA 85 NM+, and Chewbacca 12-back-A AFA 80 NM.

Action figure highlights also include The Power of the Force Lando Calrissian (Skiff Guard disguise) proof card 92-back hand-cut AFA 80 NM, the Droids Mon Julpa first shot sales sample on Ewoks card with Barada coin AFA NG, and The Empire Strikes Back Leia Organa (Bespin gown) 31-back-B AFA 85 NM+.

Hake’s is also selling multiple vehicles and playsets, such as the Sonic controlled Land Speeder AFA 80 NM from 1979. They also have the Death Star Space Station AFA 80 NM (Kenner Canada) that features a working elevator, exploding laser cannon, trash compactor with moving wall, alien trash monster, opening light bridge, trap door, and rope swing to safety. The Empire Strikes Back AT-AT with accessories AFA 75 EX+/NM contains the large vehicle with articulated legs, opening side entrance, remotely operated pulsating, flashing laser cannons, and a head that moves via a remote lever.

Hake’s Star Wars Special Event Auction will close for bidding soon on Thursday, June 2, 2022.
