ComicConnect’s 50th Event Auction ended last week on June 6-10, 2022, with over $8 million in sales led by a record for Superman #1 CGC 4.0 at $815,000. Event Auction #50 featured scores of Silver Age keys, scarcities, and classic covers with thousands of bidders placing tens of thousands of bids, according to ComicConnect.

“Thank you to everyone who participated,” ComicConnect co-founder Vincent Zurzolo said. “My staff and I are eternally grateful to be able to work doing what we love for the true fans and collectors in the hobby.”

Comic sales highlights included Amazing Fantasy #15 CGC 8.0 for $448,500 and a CGC 6.5 for $180,000, Batman #1 CGC 4.5 for $345,000, Detective Comics #38 CGC 5.5 for $68,955, Fantastic Four #1 CGC 8.5 for $350,000 and a CGC 6.5 for $78,838, and #5 CGC 8.5 for $60,000, Incredible Hulk #1 CGC 7.5 for $108,100, Journey into Mystery #83 CGC 7.0 for $62,500, Punch Comics #12 CGC 5.5 for $71,300, Sensation Comics #1 CGC 6 for $86,250, Showcase #4 CGC 7.5 for $80,500, Ultimate Fallout #4 CGC 9.8 variant for $40,251, and X-Men #1 CBCS 9.0 for $94,000 and CBCS 7.0 for $72,345.

Top original art sales were the cover to Fantastic Four #126 with pencils by John Buscema that sold for $115,000, Mike Zeck’s cover for Captain America #284 at $87,400, and John Byrne’s cover for Marvel Team-Up #68 sold for $72,450.

Within the pulps, posters, video tapes, and video games, Amazing Stories (August 28) with the first Buck Rogers appearance sold for $12,778, Super Mario 64 WATA 8.0 hit $8,700, Star Wars VHS IGS 9.0 sold for $34,500 and Back to the Future Beta IGS 8.0 hammered for $10,000.
