The Armorines is a group of armored marines who work for the US government on some of their dirtier missions. The Valiant comics superhero team was created by Jorge Gonzalez and Jim Calafiore, introduced in X-O Manowar #24 (January 1994) with the entire team debuting a month later in Armorines #0.

When the US government considered X-O Manowar to be a threat, Dr. Phillip Zahn created the Armorines to stop him. Once a senator signed off on the project, Colonel Gardner recruited a small team of soldiers with half working as field agents and the others assisting at their base. Aging war vet Gunny Lewis was chosen to be the field leader, joined by Staff Sergeant Sirot, James Earl Williams, Grissom, and Antonio Cordova.

Though X-O and the government reached an understanding, two agents from the CIA and IRS forged orders to have the Armorines confront X-O. They attacked him and were on the verge of defeating X-O when General Kendall called off the order. Gardner was arrested for ordering the attack and Kendall took his place as their administrative leader.

The team faced other threats such as the Spider Aliens, a race of conquerors who created X-O’s exoskeleton armor. The Armorines fought them in a space battle where they teamed up with X-O and the H.A.R.D. Corps. After defeating the Spider Aliens, the Armorines were given medals of honor from the president.
