Miss Victory was introduced during World War II when patriotic heroes were among the most popular in comics. Created by Charles Quinlan, her first appearance was in Helnit Publishing Co.’s Captain Fearless #1 (August 1941).

Miss Victory was the superheroine identity of Joan Wayne a stenographer who worked with the government. Because she had superstrength, could fly, and was mostly invulnerable, she became the superheroine Miss Victory to help the US in the war effort. Her origin and the basis for her abilities were not explained during the series.

She went on to appear in the second and final issue of Captain Fearless then appeared in Captain Aero after Holyoke Publishing took over the series. Like many of her counterparts of the time period, she fought German and Japanese enemies of the Axis powers and more comic-like villains, such as talking apes. She continued appearing as a backup feature in Captain Aero Comics until the series ended in August 1946 with issue 26.

Miss Victory was revived by AC Comics in Femforce Special #1 (fall 1984), this time as a doctor and research scientist for the Department of Defense. She developed a formula in the 1940s for soldiers to increase their strength and stamina, but it only worked on her. At one point, she was given an overdose of a related formula that briefly turned her into a villain. Once it was flushed out of her system, she returned to Femforce.
