Platch Liev, the Weeping Lion, is a Black Widow villain who lived and died violently. Created by Chris Samnee and Mark Waid, he was introduced in Black Widow Vol. 6 #2 (April 2016). He and his cousin Ilija Knezevic were in the car with his uncle when a young Natasha Romanova assassinated him for the Red Room.

When they were just teenagers, Weeping Lion and Ilija started taking over their uncle’s criminal operations while also searching for his killer. After their men captured Black Widow, Weeping Lion interrogated and blackmailed her while on the hunt for the Red Room’s Headmistress.

Black Widow defeated Weeping Lion in a fight to escape, then Weeping Lion and Ilija kidnapped trainees from the Dark Room Academy. Recluse, the Dark Room Headmistress’ daughter, tracked down the students at Weeping Lion’s base. During their fight she stabbed him in the throat, but somehow he survived the attack.

Disoriented, he came too close to the cells where the pupils were held, and one took the knife that had fallen into the cell and stabbed him in the hand. Impaled by the knife, Weeping Lion couldn’t extract his hand between the bars. The imprisoned students began beating him through the bars and he was killed by his own captives.

Years later he would resurface alive and still seeking vengeance against Black Widow.
