Linda Jean Córdova Carter, better known as Lynda Carter, was born on July 24, 1951. She got her start in acting at the age of five, when she debuted on Lew King’s Talent Show. After performing with a band in high school, Carter went on to join the band The Relatives and perform with them in Las Vegas for three months. Initially, Carter pursued a career in music, but this was short lived. In 1972, Carter gained national attention when she was crowned Miss World America. After making appearances on TV shows as Starsky and Hutch and Cos, Carter received her breakout role.

In 1975, Carter landed the starring role on Wonder Woman as the title character and her secret identity, Diana Prince. Carter’s incomparable performance endeared her to fans and critics, such that Carter continues to be closely identified with Wonder Woman today. Wonder Woman lasted for three seasons, producing nearly 60 episodes, before being cancelled in 1980. DC Comics named her as one of the honorees in the company's 50th anniversary publication Fifty Who Made DC Great for her work on the Wonder Woman series in 1985. To celebrate Wonder Woman’s 75th anniversary, DC Direct began selling a 5-1/2” bust of Carter’s Wonder Woman in 2010.

After Wonder Woman wrapped, Carter played Rita Hayworth in Rita Hayworth: The Love Goddess, she starred in the TV series Partners in Crime and Hawkeye. She was in A Prayer in the Dark, Sky High, The Dukes of Hazzard movie, and appeared in Smallville. Carter has done voice work for The Elder Scrolls video game series, and she was in Super Troopers 2.

Carter had a recurring role on The CW’s Supergirl as US President Olivia Marsdin. She made a memorable cameo appearance in the Gal Gadot-led Wonder Woman 1984 as Amazon warrior Asteria.
