The studio responsible for developing the cooperative zombie shooter Left 4 Dead has announced what appears to be a spiritual sequel, called Back 4 Blood. This new title will be another co-op shooter in which a team takes on a swarm of the undead.

Back 4 Blood is being developed by Turtle Rock Studios and published by Warner Bros. Entertainment. In a FAQ section on the studio’s website, they stress that this is a new game entirely, saying, “Back 4 Blood is our own brand new, original IP. You’ll be able to shoot up a lot of zombies like in Left 4 Dead, but there’s a whole lot of new stuff in Back 4 Blood which makes it unique.”

Left 4 Dead first released in November 2008 and was published by the Valve Corporation, which retains the rights to that franchise. A sequel was released the following year, and despite its popularity, a third game was never developed.

Back 4 Blood will feature a campaign as well as a multiplayer aspect, and is in development for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Windows. No release date has yet been announced.
