Nintendo released new details about the highly-anticipated new entries in the Pokémon franchise via a new trailer on August 7, 2019. The two-minute spot for Pokémon Sword and Pokémon Shield took a look at new characters, new Pokémon, and a new antagonistic team.

New characters included the well-dressed Bede and the punk rock Marnie, with the new foes, Team Yell, serving as over-the-top fans of Marnie. A whole new Pokémon unique to the Galar region was unveiled, Morpeko; the hamster-looking creature has the ability to change forms, from “Full Belly Mode” to “Hangry Mode,” which affects the type of its attacks. Meanwhile, older Pokémon are receiving the Galar treatment, with Weezing and the Zigzagoon line both getting Galarian forms unique to the region. Zigzagoon, whose Galarian form looks inspired by the look of the band KISS, also gets a special new evolution, Obstagoon.

Pokémon Sword and Pokémon Shield both release worldwide on November 15, 2019 for the Nintendo Switch.
