Action Comics #1
Cover Price: 10¢
1970 Overstreet Price: $300
2019 Overstreet Price: $4.2 million
Known for: The debut of Superman! Created by Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster, the “Superman” feature in this book is widely considered the debut of the superhero genre at-large, and the cover image featuring the Man of Steel is one of the most recognizable covers in comic book history. It went on to become the first comic book to sell for more than $1 million at auction.
Did You Know? Though obviously known for its cover story, Action Comics #1 actually contained 11 different features. Besides Superman, it marked the debut of Zatara (father of Zatanna) in “Zatara Master Magician,” and Tex Thompson (later known as Mr. America or The Americommando) in his self-titled story.
